Jean holds two Masters degrees, one in Education with a focus on higher education administration, and the second is in Public Administration. Also, he has received a post graduate certification in College Counseling through the University of California, Los Angeles.
Prior to founding Louis Educational Consulting in 2014, Jean spent almost a decade working as an administrator at a mid-size college. During his tenure as an Enrollment Management Officer he has helped students achieve success by supporting every freshman class entering the institution. In addition, he counseled a diverse student population regarding registration issues, enrollment, billing issues related to financial aid, as well as how to stay on track and graduate on time. This experience has shown him that there is no one-size fits all because each student is unique. Such an experience has helped him better understand what makes a college or university the ‘right fit’ for a student.
With each student priority in his mind, he tailors its company services to fit specific clients’ needs. He sets goals that highlight each applicant by challenging them to work hard and become ready to tackle the challenges of being a college student. His strategic approach has proven to be effective and beneficial to his clients.
To stay informed on current events about the field, he attends various conferences per year and spends more than one thousand hours in webinars discussing topics within the profession. In addition, he has visited almost one hundred colleges and universities across the US and abroad.
His professional affiliations include a membership with the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC). He is also a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA) as well as a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
His regional memberships include the New York State Association for College Admissions Counseling (NYSACAC), the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland Counseling Association (WPRCA) as well as the Business Council of Westchester (BCW).
Jean has in-depth knowledge about the financial aid process and scholarships with access to various lists of local and national scholarship programs. In addition, he knows about the NCAA requirements for athletic eligibility.
He gives back to his community as the Program Coordinator of the Saturday Academy for high school boys at the White Plains Youth Bureau.
